Quick Guide to Administrative Plans

COBRA

Our expertise in Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) administration can save you hours in administrative tasks that likely fall outside of your core responsibilities.

Our COBRA administration includes:

  • Initial notification of COBRA continuation rights to all newly eligible employees and spouses
  • Providing monthly payment coupons to COBRA participants
  • Reminder letters when payments are not made in a timely manner
  • Notification that the right to elect continued coverage has expired
  • Notification that coverage is terminated

In the event of a COBRA-related complaint, we maintain all relevant records and handle all communication with the Department of Labor.

Level Funding

Level funding can make it easy for you to move from a fully insured plan to a self-funded program.

Designed for companies with 50 to 350 employees, the HNAS Simplified Funding Solution allows you to limit the impact of state benefit mandates and new insurance tax charges, while duplicating current benefits and keeping monthly payments consistent.

Key features:

  • Competitive rates versus fully insured products
  • Access to monthly claims reporting, analytical data, predictive modeling, and benchmarking
  • One monthly bill includes fixed claims costs
  • All unused claim dollars are refunded within 90 days after the close of the contract period
  • Better management of your high-dollar claimants via effective cost-containment programs
  • ERISA-qualified, so you can tailor your benefits and avoid some of the Affordable Care Act-associated fees and taxes

CDHP Administration

In today’s challenging economy, employers must be fiscally responsible regarding the health care options they offer. More and more employers are turning to consumer-driven health plans (CDHPs) to gain greater control of escalating health care costs by increasing the employee’s cost of their health care plans.

CDHPs educate employees about the true costs of health care, and often encourage them to give careful consideration as to when, where, and how they seek care for non-emergency, non-critical treatments.

HNAS can provide assistance with the following options:

  • Flexible spending account (FSA) administration
  • Health reimbursement account (HRA) administration
  • Health savings account (HSA) facilitation

Referenced-Based Pricing

HNAS recognizes that some employers want to control costs by using a reference-based pricing (RBP) strategy. Rather than relying on static network discounts, an RBP strategy focuses on using appropriate claim limits and audits to ensure fair and reasonable payments are made to medical providers.

We have RBP options to help us administer a metrics-based pricing solution for certain plans.

Our strategy takes reference-based pricing to the next level by:

  • Auditing facility claims with an eye toward transparency to determine fair costs.
  • Assuming responsibility for dispute resolution to ensure plan payments meet ERISA obligations.
  • Providing robust analytics that dovetail with HNAS's reports and benchmark data.
