The goal of HealthNow Administrative Services (HNAS), in advocating a consumer driven approach to group benefits, is to match our clients with a customized benefit plan that is both cost-effective and comprehensive enough to fit their needs.
In today’s challenging economy, employers must make fiscally responsible decisions regarding the health care options they offer. More and more employers are turning to consumer driven health plans to gain greater control of escalating benefit costs by raising the employee's share of the responsibility and cost of their health care. This is done primarily by adjusting coinsurance percentages and out-of-pocket maximums as well as increasing contributions and deductibles on the part of the plan participant.
By educating participants in giving more careful consideration to when, where, and how they seek appropriate care for non-emergency, non-critical treatment, consumer driven health plans encourage participants to think of their health insurance in similar terms to the insurance they have on their home, automobile and other property. Most people have deductibles of $500 or more on these policies. Why should health insurance be any different?
